Swimming is a perfect exercise which is enjoyable and maintains body shape. But chlorine is a toxic chemical. It dehydrates skin and makes skin look dull and dark. Prevent this, take a few minutes to follow these tips before you jump in the pool.
1 Sunscreen
Apply a sunscreen cream with a sun protection factor (spf) of 30 or higher. Enter the pool 15 minutes after application. And come out of the pool after one hour for reapplication.
2 Rinse skin before swimming
Chlorine can cause skin irritation. Our skin has the capacity to absorb chemicals from water sources. Wetting the skin with non chlorinated water can lessen the amount of chlorine that can absorbed and lower the risk of irritation.
3 Take a shower
After you are done with swimming take a shower with lukewarm water. It wash off all the chlorine from your body.
4 Vitamin C
Vitamin c removes chlorine. Ascorbic acid in vitamin c gets away the chlorine. Dilute some vitamin c crystals with water, apply on body, after few minutes rinse with lukewarm water.
5 Moisturizer
Skin can become dry and cracked. As soon as you emerge from the pool, rinse off the chlorine and apply moisturizer to your skin. If you swim regularly use creams rather than lotions, as they are more hydrating.
6 Scrub
Scrub your body at least 2 or 3 times a week. Exfoliation allows you to get rid of dead skin.
7 Apply a pack
Apply a fairness pack regularly. You can use a home made pack too. With curd and aloe vera, you can make a great pack which makes your skin fair and moisturized.
